Series Project 3

In this set of photo's I am trying to mimic the style of conceptual portraiture done by Natsumi Hayashi. Natsumi Hayashi is amazed with the perception of time. She started taking pictures of people levitating in her photos because to her it made it seem as though time had slowed down in the frame. I tried to mimic her style by using less colorful backgrounds to make it so my models who are levitating stand out more. I also tried to make my series as similar as i could to Natsumi's photos by using similar backgrounds such as the man levitating next to the parking meter. In this series i think that i did a good job of using good backgrounds to contrast the model. i also think one thing i didn't do well is in my last photo it is not as clear as my other photos weather or not my model is levitating.

Stories

For this assignment we were supposed to focus on telling a story in 3 or less slides. We had to tell certain stories that fit into three slides. In my three slide photos i tried to incorporate movement and violence. In my fist second and third three panel stories i tried to incorporate action into a photo where you cant see the action happening. In the my second three panel story i tried to see the action from the point of the person who is doing it. I also tired to incorporate good emotions into each story.

Micro Worlds

In this series of photos I tried to make macro worlds. We would create certain scene's with figurines and photograph it from one of the figurines perspective. In my photo's I grid to use a lot of images at the beach because I feel as though that gave a very good background to my characters. I also tried to use certain figurines who fit the scene and who don't stand out.

Avedon Portraits

In these photos I was trying to capture similar portraits to Richard Avedon. I used black and white to capture the emotion in a more serious background. I also used darkening editing to bring out the expression in the faces of my models. Also when i was taking the photos i tried to make the model feel very comfortable like the camera was not even there.
