Series Project
In this set of photo's I am trying to mimic the style of conceptual portraiture done by Natsumi Hayashi. Natsumi Hayashi is amazed with the perception of time. She started taking pictures of people levitating in her photos because to her it made it seem as though time had slowed down in the frame. I tried to mimic her style by using less colorful backgrounds to make it so my models who are levitating stand out more. I also tried to make my series as similar as i could to Natsumi's photos by using similar backgrounds such as the man levitating next to the parking meter.

the one with max and the meter looks really cool.
ReplyDeleteAll of your photos are really interesting! I especially like the one of Max feeding the meter because of his shadow.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Josh. I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into this assorted set of photos. Each one of your photos seem to tell a different story which captivates me the most about them. I especially admire your fifth photo, of Max in the air touching the meter. I think this replicates Natsumi Hayashi's style of photography most accurately.
ReplyDeleteReally loved it, I think you imitated your artist very well. I love the one with Max and the parking meter, as he looks very natural, as if he can really levitate.
ReplyDeleteThese photos really capture levitation in a similar way that Natsumi Hayashi did. The parking meter shot in particular really reminds me of one of hers with a water fountain. However, I remember you saying something about incorporating colorful clothing, and this clothing seems pretty dull.
ReplyDeletenice photos josh. i like how you used multiple models. In your next series you should photograph more then one person. i especially like the picture of how Lian and Leyla are holding hands
ReplyDeleteyour photos are great! i think you captured the artist very well in your series
ReplyDeleteThis is a great first draft of Natsumi Hayashi's style of conceptual portraiture. You do a great job in this series making the model stand out and I like how some of your images present every day life, as if levitation is normal.
